The former Vanderbilt Hall now opens its doors as Vanderbilt Grace, an exquisite mansion hotel which in recent years has been restored to its former glory. Grace Hotels promises to deliver its signature style, elegance, attention to detail and consummate service.
A Newport landmark, the Vanderbilt Grace comprises 33 luxurious rooms and suites, two restaurants, a cocktail bar plus a spa and fitness centre with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The building dates from 1909 and has a rich and glamorous history: it was one of many mansions in the area owned by the Vanderbilt family and today carefully combines original Beaux Arts features with the elegant simplicity that is a hallmark of Grace Hotels.
This summer will see the opening of the hotel's new gourmet restaurant Muse by Jonathan Cartwright, a fine dining experience created by celebrated New England chef, Jonathan Cartwright. Recently appointed as Grace Hotels' Group Chef de Cuisine, Jonathan Cartwright is developing exciting menus at Muse that promise a subtle combination of New England ingredients with a modern take on traditional European cuisine. Chef Cartwright is best known as Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux at Vanderbilt Grace's sister hotel, The White Barn Inn in Kennebunk, Maine.

Stowe Mountain Resort will Host the Bacon Brothers Live in Concert at Spruce Peak
Stowe Mountain Resort will host The Bacon Brothers live in concert on Saturday, April 30, 2011. The celebrated siblings and their stellar band mates will perform songs off their numerous albums including the latest release ‘New Years Day.’ The performance will take place at 8:00pm in the new Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available online at www.sprucepeakarts.org
Long before Kevin Bacon launched his prolific stage and screen career, and before Michael Bacon became known as a go-to composer for film and television, they were just two brothers, born nine years apart, coming of age in Center City Philadelphia. By the late 1960s, Michael, already a professional musician, would gig with his band at the city’s famed Electric Factory with a young Kevin tagging along when he could. With 2009 marking 14 years of the Bacon Brothers band’s existence, any cynical preconceptions about well-known actors “dabbling” in music now can safely be discarded. The band has gigged relentlessly to build up a following, and ‘New Year’s Day’ represents their sixth LP release.
While still encountering critics due to Kevin’s onscreen notoriety, the band continues to win believers - show by show, album by album. As The New Yorker recently observed: “Hollywood hangs like an albatross around the neck of any movie star turned musician, but this duo shakes off the burden of fame with sharply executed rock that has a blue-collar, rootsy edge.” More about The Bacon Brothers at www.baconbros.com
